Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite is caused by normal fat beneath the skin. The fat appears bumpy because excessive or swollen fat pushes against contracted connective tissue underneath the skin and/or thinning surface skin, causing the skin above it to pucker.

Young and old, thin and fat can exhibit the appearance of cellulite. However, as we age, our fat cells tend to swell due to toxin introduction, and the connective tissue bands contract due to reduction in collagen production. The thinning of the skin also allows for the “pushing up” of fat underneath the skin. Together, these factors contribute to a waffling, pitting, and dimpling on the skin’s surface.

There have been few purported remedies that have actually been effective in reducing cellulite. For the most part, over-the-counter topical creams and laser treatments that work above the skin have been largely ineffective in obtaining desired results.
