Laser Hair Removal
No more need for repeated shaving, plucking, bleaching or waxing. Laser hair removal can get rid of unwanted hair on an almost permanent basis.
Hair laser removal works by light pulses penetrating the skin to the root of actively growing hair follicles. The light energy from the pulse is transferred to thermal (heat) energy in the follicle. This energy interacts with the color (melanin) of the hair, causing the follicle to be damaged and disabled. Because the laser interacts with the melanin (or pigmented regions) of the hair, laser hair removal works best with darker color hair.
Complete hair removal usually takes multiple hair cycles – meaning multiple treatments. Generally, up to 5 to 7 are desirable for some colors of hair and sometimes maintenance is needed for certain areas.
Different hairs are in different stages of growth at any given time. Only hairs that are actively growing (the anagen phase) interact with the laser and can be removed. Anywhere from 20 % to 60% of hair in any one region is in the active growth phase at any one time. Because only hairs in the active growth phase can be treated, several treatments will be necessary for the desired results. Hair laser treatments are typically performed 4 to 8 weeks apart, depending on the area and growth pattern of your hair. Once you notice the new growth of hair appearing in the target area, it’s time to return for your next treatment.
We offer two different lasers for laser hair removal to safely and effectively remove your hair. The laser selected for use will depend upon your skin type and hair color. Let us specifically evaluate your skin type to determine which laser will be best for your needs.

Diolaze is excellent for fast, effective, safe hair removal from both small and large areas. It has a built in skin cooling surface which makes hair removal virtually painless. Further, Diolaze has one of the largest treatment spot size, making treatment times much shorter and convenient.
Laser hair removal may be performed on all types of skin, including very dark skin. However, treatment of tan skin is not desirable. There should be no direct sun exposure for at least three weeks prior to and 2 weeks after treatment. So it’s best to get your “bathing suit” hair removal started well before it’s time to hit the beach. During your treatments, the areas being treated need to be protected from the sun as well. Some antibiotics can cause you to become photosensitive which can therefore cause complications with your laser treatments. As always, please discuss any new medications with your technician at each and every visit.
