Plasma Pen Skin Tightening

It’s all about the dots…

Plasma Pen, or Plasma fibroblast skin tightening treatment, is a relatively novel and growing minimally invasive aesthetic skin procedure. The treatment rejuvenates skin with controlled micro-trauma that creates skin tightening and rejuvenation.  This technique involves the ionization of gases from the atmospheric air to create a micro electrical discharge or Arc. The Arc never touches the skin, but it causes a controlled micro thermal burn injury to the skin’s epidermal layer. This anti-aging treatment is based on a series of tiny dots adjacent to the tension lines on the skin.  The simultaneous heating and disruption of the deeper dermal structure via thermal conductions causes remodeling of the skin and production of fibroblasts. This is sometimes called“fibroblasting”. Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body that produce collagen.  More fibroblasts lead to more collagen production. Collagen remodeling leads to improvement in fine lines, pore size and tightens the skin for overall rejuvenation.

Plasma pen can treat almost any area of the face and body, including:

  • Eyelids – diminish crow’s feet and saggy eye lids
  • Neck- lift sagging skin and treat jowls
  • Lips – treat marionette lines and smoker’s wrinkles, lip flip
  • Nasolabial – diminish smile lines
  • Complexion – treat sun spots, age spots and hyperpigmentation anywhere
  • Stomach – treat stretch marks and sagging skin
  • Chest and Breasts – tighten loose skin and treat wrinkling of the Décolleté
  • Legs and knees – tighten sagging skin
  • Arms – tighten sagging/crepey skin and treat “bat wings”
  • …and more!!!

Am I a candidate for Plasma Pen?

If you are seeking a non-surgical solution to correct hyperpigmentation, loose skin, or visible signs of aging, then Plasma Pen may be right for you. Plasma Pen works best on light to medium skin complexions.  It may not be appropriate for patients with darker skin or those who scar easily.  Patients that are sensitive to topical anesthetic cream would not be candidates for Plasma Pen treatment.

What should I expect during recovery?

When compared to plastic surgery, Plasma Pen recovery is very minimal.  You should expect redness, swelling, and scabbing for up to two weeks after treatment. You will not be physically restricted from most typical activities. However, you will need to avoid sun exposure, excessive sweating, and you may decide to opt for a week of “social downtime”. You will be advised in specific aftercare protocol, which you should follow carefully for best results.

Does Plasma Pen Treatment Hurt?

Most patients report no pain during treatment, but there may be a tingling sensation which can cause minor discomfort on more delicate areas. Care is always taken to do everything we can to ensure your comfort during treatment including a topical anesthetic.
